Residents of Kanive Village in Kushalnagar staged a protest on Wednesday demanding the administration to take action to stop plying of the heavy iron ore lorries on Madikeri-Hasan State Highway at Kushalnagara-Shirangala region.
Since the number of lorries plying on these roads are the highest in the nights, the protesters planned their protest late night.
Owing to the intense protest, the ore lorry drivers had no other recourse, but to take a reverse and go back. The protesters complained that daily over 100 lorries of over 30-35 tonnes of ore loaded on it ply on the spoilt road on the region, which have affected the houses on sides of the roads. They also warned that protests will be intensified if the trucks are not banned. ZP former president H S Ashok, Ramalingeshwaraswamy Temple Committee President E S Ganesh participated.
