Police on Wednesday have arrested 9 Bajrang Dal activists including State Convener Mahendra Kumar, on the charges of going on a rampage in the Seegodu Navodaya School on the taluk border and disturbing head mistress Helen Mary against her duty.
In a petition to Balehonnur police, HM Mary had complained that the activists went on the rampage in the school alleging that the school was promoting conversion, according to DySP Mallikarjunappa.
R D Mahendra, Praveen, Santhosh, Mahesh, Surendra, Ravindra, Prashanth and Raghu were the arrested. Case has not been filed on advocate Sudhir Kumar who was there on the occasion as a translater, he clarified.
Another case has also been filed on the complaint of the Bajrang Dal that the head mistress is motivating conversions, and disturbing the religious sentiments of Hindus, Mr Mallikarjunappa said.
When the arrested were brought to the DySP office, the Dal activists gathered in front of it and protested demanding the detention of Ms Mary.
