Opposing the differential attitude of the Central government about Karnataka and demanding classical status Kannada language, in spite of Karnataka being a part of the Indian Federal System, Delhi Chalo programme has been organised in the first week of May, announced Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Professor Chandrashekhar Patil here.
Speaking at a press conference in the city, he condemned the step-motherly attitude of the Union Government in disregarding our culture, language and overall development of the State.
As per the constitution of the Federation, all the States which are part of the Federation should get equal status, but this is not true of Karnataka, Mr Champa stated.
He also said that he would request all the MP’s of Karnataka to participate in the movement. Those who do not participate will be branded as unpatriots, he warned.
As many as 25,000 are expected to participate in the movement and many pro-kannada organisations in Delhi will also take part in the movement. Later a dharna will be staged in front of the office of the PM and a memorandum will be submitted to the PM with regard to this, he added.
Karnataka Simha Sene State Unit President S K Vivekananda, Amar Singh, Lakshman and Saifulla Khan and others were present at the meet.
REGIONAL PARTY
Champa announced that he would soon start a new regional party that would fight for the welfare of the Kannadigas and their development. “A regional party is very much needed for Karnataka which strives for our language and culture”, he added.
The term of the elected representatives of Kannada Sahitya Parishat will complete on April 30 and already the election officer has been appointed, he said while adding that, the election list is yet to be announced. This time, 29 districts and four other state units will participate in the election process, Champa added.
