Farmers of Kolar and Chikkaballapur have accused the government of showing step-motherly attitude towards them as the subsidy of Rs 20 crore is pending and it has not reached them yet.
The farmers led by Kolar district Farmers’ Welfare Forum and District Co-operative Union President Byalahalli M Govinde Gowda submitted a memorandum to the Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer to be forwarded to the Governor on Thursday.
They condemned the government of gaining immense publicity by announcing in the budget that 100 per cent subsidy will be given for drip irrigation, but the government has not bothered later. The two districts are barren and even the underground water system has been effected, they added and urged the Governor to release the amount as soon as possible, else a strong protest will be held in the first week of April.
