Finally, the title of the new Jaggesh starrer has been changed. Beedhi Basavanna had created a controversy, as it bore the same title of the B R Panthulu directed movie, starring Rajkumar in 1967. At the launch of the film, Jaggesh along with director Kodlu Ramakrishna announced the changed name of the film as Beedhi Basava and put an end to the controversy.
Kodlu Ramakrishna, whose last film was Tamashegagi, is directing this movie too. The director was all praise for ‘comedy hero’ Jaggesh and said that he considers him second only to Ananth Nag in comedy.
Meanwhile, Jaggesh regretted the unprofessionalism of Kannada heroines, reasoning out that they shy away from roles which demanded exposure. In fact, Jaggesh seemed to be justifying the director’s choice of selecting Nikhita, a heroine from Mumbai. Nikhita has earlier acted in the Sudeep starrer Maharaja.
While Jaggesh was regretting our heroines’ refusal to expose, his latest heroine was providing some comic moments. Jaggesh tried to teach Nikhita the correct way to pronounce the film’s title. An enthusiastic Nikhita obliged but ended up saying Beedi Basava, which meant Basava who smoked beedis! But Jaggesh sure won’t mind this slip as the heroine won’t mind doing the ‘other’ requirement of the film!
