Meghalaya Chief Minister D D Lapang has allotted portfolios to ministers of the eight-member Meghalaya United Alliance (MUA) headed by him.
Lapang took charge of Personnel, Political, Cabinet Affairs, Planning, Tourism, Law and the departments not allotted to any of the ministers. Three independents and four Congress MLAs of the MUA were sworn in as ministers at a hurriedly-convened swearing-in ceremony at Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukul Sangma will hold the charge of Finance, Power, Agriculture and Horticulture, official sources here said. M M Danggo has been assigned the Food and Civil Supplies, Forest and Environment, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary departments. Prestone Tynsong will be in charge of PWD, GAD (general affairs) and border area development, while R C Laloo will look after Education, IPR and Parliamentary Affairs.
Independent MLA A T Mondal has been given Health and Family Welfare, Civil Defence and Home Guards departments. Ministers of State Ismail R Marak is in charge of transport, and Home (Passport) and Limison Sangma will head Excise, Sport and Youth Affairs.
