After slogging it out for 18 days, sometimes working late in the night, officials heaved a sigh of relief after completing delimitation work of 224 assembly constituencies and 28 Lok Sabha constituencies, as recommended by Justice Kuldip Singh Commission.
The staff completed the work, which began on February 25, two days ahead of the March 15 deadline. On the last day, officials completed the constituencies coming under Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The completion of delimitation process may pave the way for holding elections in May.
Deputy Election Commissioner J P Prakash, who arrived in Bangalore two days ago to review the delimitation work, returned on Thursday evening.
He is likely to give a report stating Karnataka is ready for May elections, sources said.
