The University of Mysore, which is already under a cloud of several controversies relating to various programmes, was again in the eye of storm, when two foreign nationals visited the administrative wing - Crawford Hall here on Thursday.
Rumours were rife that the visiting foreign nationals were associated with UNICEF in Somalia and had come to meet In-charge Vice Chancellor Prof Shivashankara Murthy pertaining to ‘Outreach Programme,’ which was cancelled recently. They, apparently, claimed that they had paid Rs 8 lakh for online courses and examinations to be conducted in Masters in Developmental Studies more than a year ago.
The visitors demanded the amount to be returned to them in case the course stood cancelled. According to sources, Prof Shivashankara Murthy reportedly told them to produce necessary documents along with an application and reimbursement of the amount would be considered.
