Kids meet watery grave

In a tragic incident, two children drowned in a tank at Chokkanahalli village in Chikkajala police limits on Friday.

 The deceased - Vishnuvardhan (12) and Chetan (10), were both brothers studying in Standard V and VI, respectively.
Police said the children went towards the tank near the school, after lunch and  slipped and fell down while playing near the tank.
Seeing them drown, their friends immediately informed the villagers, who rushed to the spot and fished out the two brothers. They were immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared them brought dead.
2 die of burns
Two women died of burns in separate incidents in the City. Farhana (25) died of burns at Doddana Nagar, in DG Halli police station limits.
Her husband, Sameer, a mechanic, has been taken into custody. In another incident, a woman admitted to Victoria Hospital with 65 per cent burns died on Friday. According to police, Roopa (19), a resident of E J Palya, was lighting a lamp when the incident occurred.
Killed in mishap
Anjanamma (32), of J J Nagar was killed on the spot and Roopa (27), a resident of Manjunathnagar was severely injured, on Friday, when a heavily loaded truck, began moving backwards, when the driver applied reverse gears and knocked them down.
11 held for gambling
CCB sleuths arrested 11 persons on gambling charges and recovered Rs 2.2 lakh from them.
They have been identified as Somashekhar (31), Rajashekhar (29), Prashanth (30), Shivakumar (31), Manjunath (28), L Shivakumar (28), Mahadeva (35), Hariprasad (32), Nandeesh (28), Kiran (27) and Minut (27).
Police raided a house in Balajinagar, in C K Achchukattu police station limits and arrested them.
