HDK promises to raise support price for copra

Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, who arrived at Huliyaru on Friday evening as part of his Jaitra Yatra made a host of promises to the electorate, especially the farmers.

He said if his party is elected to power he will put pressure on the Centre to raise minimum support price for copra to Rs 5,000 per quintal. At present the MSP for cobra is Rs 3,900 per quintal.
“I understand the agony of copra growers of this part of the State. I will do my best for them if  JD(S) comes to power. Apart from this our party will also introduce several other incentives for farmers,” he assured.
He said during his 20 months tenure, he strived for the welfare of farmers and the common man. Loan waivers, crop insurance and seed subsidy  were announced for the benefit of farmers. For the common man Ashraya scheme providing houses was a boon, he said. 
“Our government took a bold step to ban liquor,” he said calling upon people to support JD(S) candidate from Chinnahalli Sureshbabu. K L Mahadevappa and Sureshbabu were present on this occasion.
People of Huliyaru had to wait for more than five hours beforre they got a  glimpse of the former chief minister. Kumaraswamy was scheduled to arrive at 1 pm. However it was only at 6 pm that the ‘Jaitra Yatra’ entered Huliyaru. Kumaraswamy and team received a grand welcome at Tiptur Circle. Then Kumarswamy addressed the public at Ramgopal circle.
