Thanks to All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association (AIACA) which will be holding an exhibition of a wide range of Craftmark certified handmade products in the City. The handmade products include salwaar kurtas, mini kurtas, stoles, dupattas, bags, soft furnishings in hand embroidery, patchwork, block prints, weaves and a range of coconut wood products.
AIACA represents a range of organisations in th handloom and handicraft sectors. They improve the incomes and living standards of craft workers. AIACA also has a range of initiatives to enhance access of crafts producers to mainstream markets. One of the main initiative — the Craftmark — will help Indian craftworkers and craft organisations to take advantage of economic opportunities in the domestic market and break into mainstream retail markets.
Craftmark seeks to help Indian handicraft become more competitive in the markets by distinguishing such handicraft from machine-made products apart from increasing consumer awareness of distinct handicraft traditions. The Craftmark initiative is a unique in attempting to bring informal sector producers, NCOS, producers groups, private businesses and co-operatives under a single umbrella to help increase mainstream markets for craft. Under the Craftmark initiative, AIACA will certify applicant organisations as to the authenticity of their craft products after verifying that the appropriate hand-production process is being used at the point of production.
The exhibition will be held at Serenity from March 19 to March 23.
