The recent trend of leaders from the JD(S) and Congress joining the BJP has sent the rumour mills running overdrive.
There are speculation that more big players from the rival camps will land up in the BJP soon. A prominent name that is doing the rounds is that of cine star and Congress leader Ambareesh.
However, BJP top brass is tightlipped. “Wait and see,” said BJP State President D V Sadananda Gowda. Ambareesh, a three-time MP from Mandya, had tendered his resignation to the Lok Sabha seat and also as union minister in protest against the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal award last year. Another speculation doing the rounds is that BJP may contest MLC Janardhana Reddy from Ramanagaram, the home turf of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.
The move is seen as a stratergy by the BJP to settle scores with the Gowda family for betraying the party on the transfer of power issue. Mr Reddy, it is said, has planned to kickstart an extensive campaign across the state to restate the Rs 150 crore bribery allegation against Kumaraswamy and his family members. And finally, according to political gravevine, former Congress MLA N L Narendra Babu may also land up in the saffron party.
