AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is visiting Karnataka on a five-day tour and he would enter the state from Dharwad district.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, State Youth Congress President Krishna Byregowda said the exact date and tour programme of Mr Gandhi will be announced shortly. Mr Gandhi has been touring all over the country to understand problems being faced by people and to know aspirations of youths, he added.
“During his tour in the state, Mr Gandhi will visit villages and meet students, farmers, women groups and dalit organisations to discuss with them various issues concerning their life,” he said.
The AICC general secretary wants to have first-hand information about life of the common people and issues affecting them by directly interacting with them, he added.
Criticising the Congress opponents for terming Mr Gandhi’s tour as a “political gimmick”, Mr Byregowda said: “Our opponents are not able to digest the growing popularity of Mr Gandhi’s tour and have therefore termed it a ‘political gimmick”.
