China sets Monday night as deadline for Tibet rioters to surrender
China has accused followers of Tibet's exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, of masterminding the rioting, which has scarred its image of national harmony in the build-up to the Beijing Olympics. Tibetan law-and-order departments offered leniency for rioters who turned themselves in by Monday midnight.

Nepal closes Everest for Olympic torch on China's request
"Expedition teams will not be allowed to move from Nepal's Everest base camp from May 1 to May 10," said the minister, Prithvi Subba Gurung. "We have received a request from China not to allow people on the mountain while the Olympic torch is on Everest," he said.
