Through the pages of history...
DH News Service, Mulbagal:
Beautiful temples carved out of black stone and similar to the style of Belur and Halebidu are built in Kurudumale village in Mulbagal district.

The erstwhile rulers of Mysore had worked towards the upkeep of these historic monuments including the Vinayaka and Someshwarswamy temples.

But another temple that lies very close to these beauties is in ruins today because of adminsitrative neglect. Treasure hunters have also destroyed the sculptures in the temple looking for mysterious treasures that may or may not exist among the temple.

We bring you the sad story of Sri Channakeshava Temple .

A silver lining to this tragedy is that about ninety years ago the beautiful sculptures were shifted from this temple to the Someshwara Temple nearby and therefore have survived the onslaught.

Outside support
People of other areas are now coming forward requesting that the sculptures so they can establish them in their village.

Support is pouring him from outside the state as well from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

It seems like a tragedy that nobody from the surroundings are coming forward to save this piece of history.

It would be more appropriate that instead of building new temples to take care of the ones that our ancestors created.
