Nagarika Hitharakshana Samithi has urged the Governor and Town Development Secretary to order for a CoD probe into the scam related to the alleged forgery of signature of the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner for the payment of a bill to a contractor.
Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, Samithi President G Hanumantha Kamath said that Mangalore police and team constituted by the Deputy Commissioner can not unearth the truth behind the scam.
He said only one complaint related to the forgery of signature of MCC Commissioner has been filed in the Barke police. Joint Commissioner should file cases related to the missing pages from some of the files which had been sent to MCC Commissioner Krishnappa Poojary’s house. Even the case related to the missing pages from the files also should be probed.
Mr Kamath said more scams will be unearthed if all the files and estimate reports are checked from the day Mr Poojary took charge as the Commissioner of MCC. All the staff of the Engineering division should be questioned.
He said MCC files are found in the hands of contractor or corporator. A register should be maintained for all the files and staff who handle the files, he urged.
Mr Kamath said all the works should be undertaken inviting tender, so that there is no scope for forgery. The Mangalore City Corporation should invite tender for the maintenance of wetwell, pumphouse, JCB and gang.
