Virajpet Bar Association has sought a CoD probe into assault on advocate Vinu Pemmaiah by Siddapura SI P P Santhosh Kumar.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, Virajpet Bar Association President K M Madappa and Vice-President B C Subbaiah said Mr Pemmaiah was physically assaulted and mentally tortured in the police station, which leads to violation of human rights.

He said a complaint has been sent to Governor, State Bar Association President, Human Rights Commission and DGP along with FIR copy.

“We are not against police filing a case against Mr Pemmaiah. But we are fighting against the assault on him,” they added.
