Kannada medium in Mysore varsity
BANGALORE, March 15

Kannada medium has been introduced successfully in the pre-university course in the university of Mysore said Dr K V Puttappa, Vice-Chancellor, here today.

Addressing the first meeting of the Senate constituted under the new University Act Dr K V Puttappa said though it was not made compulsory, as many as 800 students had taken to it.

Russia offers to give up ICBM
MOSCOW, March 15

Russia today proposed a four-point peace plan under which she indicated willingness to give up her inter-continental missile provided the US abandoned bases on foreign soil.

The peace plan designed to strengthen the case for summit talks was issued at a Soviet Foreign Ministry press conference here. In effect it said that Russia would be foolish to agree to ban her ICBM so long as the US, using foreign bases, could reach Soviet territory with intermediate rockets.

Karnataka claim Ranji trophy
BOMBAY, March 15

Karnataka are the Ranji Trophy champions in the golden jubilee year of the State Association.  The trophy which eluded them so narrowly last year was received by a beaming Karnataka skipper Brijesh Patel from former Indian skipper Ajit Wadekar.

This is the third time that Karnataka have won the championship.
