P Paulose of Kannur had booked two tickets to travel from Bangalore to Kannur in Sagar Travels for Rs 650. He was given seat number 8 with a double berth. It was to reach Kannur by 5 am next morning. Around 1.30 pm the bus stopped near Mysore, for a tea break.
The cleaner of the bus told the passengers the break would be for 20 minutes. Paulose, his mother and child got down from the bus to use the bathroom. But ten minutes later when they returned, the bus had left five minutes earlier than it should have! They were dismayed as their luggage had been in the bus. He contacted the bus driver on his mobile but was told that they had picked up more passengers and hence their seat was not available for them. After three hours they managed to reach Kannur boarding another bus, having to sleep on the floor as there were no seats. And when they located the bus which had carried away their luggage, they found one bag was missing, which had expensive items like a digital camera etc.
He filed a complaint with the IV Additional Forum which found the manager, P K Travels in corporation Building, Kalasipalya Main Road, guilty of deficient service and ordered it to pay up Rs 15,000 as compensation along with Rs 10,000 as costs to P Paulose.
