Presidents medals presented
Bangalore, DHNS:

Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Saturday presented the distinguished President’s medals to 46 personnel and volunteers of the Home Guards, Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services at the Raj Bhavan.

The medals awarded at the ‘Investiture Ceremony’ organised by the Directorate of Home Guards, Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services included the Independence Day awards for 2006 and 2007, Republic Day awards for 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Governor Mr Thakur who presented the medals to as many as 46 officials of the home guards and civil defence, fire and emergency services said the awards inspire others to discharge their duties with devotion, commitment and understanding.

“The home guards play a vital role in protecting the lives and property of people during natural calamities like floods, earthquakes, collapse of buildings in disasters. Karnataka State Fire and Emergency forces put their lives at risk, while providing fire safety and prevention and conduct rescue, salvage operations during accidents and calamities” he said. Jija Madhavan Hari Singh, DGP and Commandant General, Home Guards and Civil Defence and P K H Tharakan, advisor to governor were among those present at the ceremony. Names of medal winners:
