CJ’s positive attitude
Speaking at the International Women’s Day celebrations organised by City Advocates’ Association, Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph elaborated on people’s attitude about girl children.

He said “I have four children - one son and three daughters. Whenever I used to tell this to anybody, his or her next question used to be that son must be the youngest. People thought that I was attempting for a male child and in that process had ended up with four children. That was not the case, we wanted more kids. So, now-a-days, I have started saying - ‘I have four kids. One son and three daughters, and the boy is the second one” !

No more jokes, seriously
IG&IGP K R Sreenivasan is known for cracking jokes during press conferences. Two weeks ago in a press conference on a much-serious issue of terrorism, he cracked several jokes. But in a recent chat with the media he had decided not to crack jokes. He began his interaction saying “Today I will not crack any joke as it takes an altogether different meaning. In fact a joke almost came to my mouth, but I applied reverse gear". Surprisingly his way of beginning the interaction itself resulted in laughter among those present.

A remedy for sleep
This happened years ago when director T N Seetharam and well-known singer C Ashwath were travelling to New Delhi by train. A co-passenger was playing his recorder at night. Ashwath could not sleep as he was disturbed by the recorder. He entered into a dialogue with the co-passenger playing recorder. He asked about the price of the recorder and wanted to know from where he can buy one such piece. The co-passenger said it is available in New Delhi for Rs 500. Ashwath told the co-passenger that he wanted that piece and he was ready to Rs 600 for it. He happily accepted and sold his recorder and pocketed Rs 600. The singer took the recorder, opened the window and threw it out. The seller was in shock. “Now both you and I can sleep well. Good night”, Ashwath told his co-passenger and went to bed. Seetharam narrated this incident at a programme organised by Sugama Sangeetha Parishat recently.

Kishore da on line
Kengeri sub-division ACP Ramesh Babu is a great fan of Kishore Kumar or so it seems. Call him on his cell phone and hear at least three famous numbers of Kishore Kumar - ‘Mere Dil Me Aaj Kya Hai Tu Kahe To Main Bata Doon’, ‘O Hansini Kahan Ud Chali’ and ‘O Mere Dil Ke Chain, Chain Aye Mere Dil Ko Dua Keejiye’. Journalists who call Ramesh Babu get to hear these songs most of the time as he rarely receives calls.

Perfect host ?
An international conference on ‘Public Transport’ (Asia Pacific Region) was held in the city last week. Over 200 delegates from various nations gathered at a posh resort in the outskirts of the city.
Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation played host with all expenses paid by it. It looked like the bountiful PSU wanted to impress the videshi visitors on its spending capacity. Whether the conference achieved anything worthwhile is anybody’s guess.
