Mentally ill youth goes missing
Bangalore, dhns: A 22-year-old mentally challenged youth, admitted to NIMHANS, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances.

Munshi Abdul Hai (22), a resident of Bujrukdighi village in Burdwan district of West Bengal in a fit of anger, jumped off the wall and vanished on February 23.

Hai’s father Munshi Shah Nawaz, a farmer, told Deccan Herald, “Hai suffered typhoid some 10 years ago. After he recovered, he started complaining of severe headache and used to sleep very little. Very soon, he became mentally challenged and would always keep his mouth open. We took him to a hospital in Burdwan, but there were no signs of improvement. We were told to take him to NIMHANS. Accordingly we brought him here on January 22, he added.

“I had brought very little money with me which I spent for his medical expenses. On that ill-fated day, he picked a quarrel with me without any reason, grew angry and went outside. I followed him and requested him to return. But, he jumped off the wall and ran away. My family members have directed me not to come alone, but with my son. Now, I am left with no money and the NIMHANS officials are asking me to vacate the room. I have lodged a complaint with Siddapura police. I have not been able to trace my son even after 20 days,” he expressed his helplessness.

Two arrested for murder
The CCB sleuths on Sunday arrested two persons in connection with a murder case.

Police said the accused Harish (25) of Sanjaynagar and Srinivas (27) of Vyalikaval, murdered Vinod Kumar over a financial matter. The duo with a criminal record, were allegedly involved in gambling.

The victim Vinod Kumar, who was not in good terms with his wife started staying separately in Hotel Imperial for 40 days before he was killed.

He had borrowed Rs 14 lakh from the duo and had repaid Rs 7 lakh. Recently, the accused met him at the hotel to discuss the return of loan.

There was an exchange of heated words and the accused assaulted Kumar, who started bleeding heavily, and disappeared from the scene of the crime.

Vinod was shifted to the hospital where he breathed his last. The case was booked as unnatural death by the police.

However, the police grew suspicious after they received the post mortem report. They collected details and traced the accused and nabbed them.
