The letter addressed to Lahore’s SSP (Operations) has drawn the attention of senior police officials towards “immoral activities” at Bagh-e-Jinnah, a popular park.
The letter, copies of which were sent to some other police officials and newspaper editors, claimed that prostitutes were operating openly in the park. It claimed that the police, despite two “earlier warnings”, has done little to curb vulgarity, the Daily Times reported.
“Prostitutes are dealing with males of every age openly in Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore, without the fear of police since long. But Lahore police and high-ups are not taking any step against them due to enlightened moderation policy,” the letter alleged.
“Despite warnings earlier, Lahore police has not taken steps to stop this un-Islamic activity in the park,” it said.
According to the letter, there is no enmity with police and security forces, but if they are not going to act upon the demands, more severe attacks will continue in Lahore.
Lahore has been rocked by four suicide attacks since January. The most recent attack on the office of the Federal Investigation Agency on March 11 killed 28 and injured 170.
