Big 92.7 FM has collaborated with singer Sonu Nigam to launch his new single Punjabi Please. Sonu Nigam was present at the launch to talk about his new song as well as to sing a number from Jodhaa Akbar!

Why ‘Punjabi Please’ ?

Actually, I have done a few Punjabi numbers before but nothing like this. And whenever I perform live, there always seem to be Punjabis in the audience and they always ask me for a Punjabi number. So this is for them! I recently launched a classical album and this is for those who miss my face-paced songs.

How about your acting career? Any films lined up?

I’m not sure yet. I haven’t made up my mind. I am very lazy and after all this work, I want to run away to the US for sometime.

You seem to be sporting a new look every season, what’s your look for `Punjabi Please’?

Well, that I’m not sure of yet because we are still making the video. Actually I let my director decide about my look. I trust them completely and it has always turned out good!

Future projects?

I have done an album with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra which is a tribute to Mohammed Rafi who has been an inspiration. I plan to release the album on July 31 (Rafi’s death anniversary) or July 30 (Sonu’s birthday). It is a very special album and it has around 18 songs.

The Kannada connection...

Yes, recently I have had the highest number of hits in Kannada. I am doing an album for all my Kannada fans. I am working with Manu Murthy, with whom I share a good rapport and have had previous hit numbers.
