Networking minds of teachers and librarians is needed to make the libraries more efficient, said Prof H A Ranganath, Bangalore University Vice-Chancellor.
Speaking at the inauguration of a five-day national workshop on ‘Standards in Library Automation and Networking’, he said that three levels of networking were essential to make the libraries more efficient. First the networking of minds of teachers, research scholars and students should be matched with the librarians.
The second level of networking proposed by the VC was to network all the affiliated colleges with the university library in a phased manner. Elaborating on the third level of networking, he said that it is proposed to have a networking among the libraries of universities and research institutions in the State. “This will benefit most of the university libraries to share their resources among themselves and borrow from the research institution libraries,” he added.
