Inaugurating the 8th Taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana on Sunday at Guruvayanakere, Dr Gowda said that contemporary media such as computer, websites are often portrayed as enemies but these media can be utilised to nourish and spread the fragrance of Kannada language, literature and culture. “While the number of intellectuals is increasing, there is depletion in the number of noble and sensitive people. Intellectuals must be sensitive and noble too,” Dr Gowda added.
He opined that religion and literature are complimentary to each other and everytime one goes awry, the other has spread awareness and saved the society.
“The youth must create a new era of literature facing all the challenges and the attacks happening on Kannada literature. Students must develop their communication skills to contribute to literature,” he added.
Sammelana President Prof N G Patvardhan said that literature develops personality and heart and it is one strong medium which portrays culture. “Love for English has been curtailing the growth of Kannada and with language the culture is also getting affected,” he added.
DK district Kannada Sahithya Parishat President Pradeep Kumar Kalkura delivered the keynote address and D Harshendra Kumar of Dharmasthala released the souvenir.
