“A Raj Bhavan Chalo rally has been organised on March 18 protesting the government move of privatising the Anganwadis”, said Anganawadi Workers Association’s district President Eshwaramma.
Speaking at the officer bearers meeting here recently, she said that her Association is opposing the government decision of entrusting ISKCON with the task of suppling food to the children in Anganwadis centres in six districts, neighbouring Bangalore.
She demanded that Anganwadi workers be paid Rs 1,00,000 and assistants Rs 50,000 on retirement and also demanded to raise the honorarium paid to them.
Alleging irregularity in the distribution of revolving fund given for the year 2003-04 she demanded action against the concerned officials.
Eshwaramma said that if their demands were not met Anganwadi centre will be closed in protest.
Karnataka Prantya Raita Sangha’s district General Secretary P R Narayanaswamy, Anganwadi Workers Assciation’s taluk president G Jayamma, Vice-president Saraswatamma, Secretary, H M Jayalakshmamma, Treasury C Pramila and others were present on the occasion.
