Second US Satellite Put In Orbit

The American Vanguard earth satellite was circling the earth tonight with Explorer I and Sputnik II after the most perfect launching ever seen at the Cape Canaveral testing grounds.
Three minutes later, the Army Signals Corps at Fort Monmoath, New Jersey, started to pick up a steady beep from the baby moon.
The slim, three-stage Vanguard rocket with a tiny 6.4 satellite in its nose left the launching pad at 7.16 am (12.16 GMT) and leaving a trail of fire and smoke, climbed straight up into the clear morning air.
Bombay-Mysore Border Talks

Chief Minister Nijalingappa told the State Legislative Assembly today that he would be discussing the Mysore-Bombay border issues with the Chief Minister of Bombay during this month-end.

Rail Minister Censured

The collision of two trains at Howrah Station, which resulted in the death of 16 persons, had its impact in the Lok Sabha today with the Speaker censuring the Railway Minister for informing the House about the accident a day late and members of the CPM group staging a walkout over the Speaker’s refusal to admit an adjournment motion on the issue.
