Scarlett Keeling’s mother Fiona MacKeown has managed to ruffle feathers at the highest levels in the Goa government with her sensational allegations against Home Minister Ravi Naik and the state’s Director General of Police B S Brar.
Mr Naik said here on Monday that given the British woman’s “criminal background” Goa government would ask the Centre to deny her a re-entry visa.
“We will also ask the Centre to scrutinise the background of tourists applying for visas, so that such type of tourists are not allowed to come here,” he told a media conference. MacKewon had alleged that Goa’s Home Minister and DGP had links to the drug mafia which was blocking the course of investigations into the case.
MacKeown had spent a year in jail in the UK for sliting a man’s throat, the British media had revealed, quoting her son. It has also come to light that she has nine children from four different partners. MacKeown, 43, could also face charges under the Goa Children’s Act for leaving her minor daughter alone here. “She must also bear responsibility in Scarlett’s death. We will go strictly by our law. The police department will examine the case and look at her source of income and why she went to Karnataka,” Mr Naik said.
