HDK for prohibition  
It is election time and promises galore. Close on the heels of the Congress promise to distribute 25 kg rice to BPL card holders, H D Kumaraswamy on Monday announced that the JD(S) will introduce complete prohibition, if voted to power in the coming elections.
White paper on loan waiver sought  
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged the Congress-led UPA government to publish a white paper giving details of break-up figures of each state to be benefited by the Rs 60,000 crore loan waiver scheme announced by Finance Minister P Chidambaram.
Discrepancy in funds allottment to disabled  
Though the Persons with Disabilities Act 1995, stipulates that all government departments should allocate three percent of the funds for the welfare of the disabled, in reality only 0.3 to 1.07 is being allocated, said Dr Manoj Kumar, chief commissioner for disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment
