HDK for prohibition
Bangalore, DHNS:
It is election time and promises galore. Close on the heels of the Congress promise to distribute 25 kg rice to BPL card holders, H D Kumaraswamy on Monday announced that the JD(S) will introduce complete prohibition, if voted to power in the coming elections.

Addressing a public rally as part of his jaitra yatra at Mahalakshmipuram, he said he had decided to completely ban the sale of liquor after seeing its impact on poor families. “The sale of arrack was banned for the same reason. Now, I want to introduce complete prohibition,” he stated.  Claiming the complete credit for ban on arrack, he alleged that the then coalition partner, the BJP, was against banning arrack. “I insisted on it and even fought with former deputy chief minister B S Yeddyurappa to implement it,” he added.

He also accused the BJP of promoting the cause of NICE, which is implementing BMIC project. “NICE is not interested in implementing the project. But it is eyeing on valuable 2,800 acre lands worth Rs 30,000 crore. The present administration should not give away excess land to NICE ,” he added.

Great! Now the politicians and bureacrats can team up with bootleggers and make some more illicit money! The poor people who HDK is concerned about will pay more to buy the illicit liquor....
