Speaking at a workshop on ‘Genetic counselling’ at the Spastic Society of Karnataka, Dr Kumar said, “Though funds are available, the allocation for the welfare of the disabled was way behind mark.” He added that the centre that launched the disability portal on March 12, in association with Media Asia Lab and Rehabilitation Council of India, hopes to provide all necessary information to the differently abled on the initiatives launched by the ministry for the welfare of the disabled.
Dr Shalini Rajneesh, secretary, Women and Child Development said the state government would soon establish a National Centre for Multi-Disciplinary Research in a tie up with Bangalore University.
