The forest department plans to establish forest research centres in all the districts of the State and has sent a proposal to the union government for clearance, said the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest A K Verma.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Forest Science Centre at Kadugodi on Tuesday. Verma said as soon as the scheme gets green signal and funds are made available, the proposal would be realised.
Chief Conservator of Forest V Rangaswamy said there is dearth of sandalwood these days due to which people may be finding difficulty in getting it.
A handbook on forest department highlighting the forest research centre was also released on the occasion.
