Posthumous doctorates
Tumkur, DHNS: Tumkur University has decided to confer honourary doctorate on Gandhian H M Gangadharaiah and founder of education institutions M S Ramaiah posthumously, during its first convocation slated for March 24.
According to Vice Chancellor Prof O Anantaramaiah, three more persons to be given honourary doctorate on the occasion are Siddaganga mutt seer Dr Shivakumara Swamiji, Prof B Sheikh Ali and actor K S Ashwath.

Car festival on March 23
Tumkur, DHNS: The car festival of Sri Guruthippeswamy at Nayakanahatti of Challakere taluk in Chitradurga district will start from March 23, said a re;ease.

MP N Y Hanumanthappa, former MLA N Y Gopalakrishna and D Sufhakar will be the chief guests. The KSRTC will provide special buses for the benefit of the commuters from Tukur, said the release.

Announce results, ABVP urges
Tumkur, DHNS: District Co-ordinator of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat Rayasandra Ravikumar has urged for the immediate declaration of the degree - first, third and fifth year semester exams conducted by Tumkur University three months back.

He said, though the exams were over around three months back and already a month had passed after the evaluation work was also conducted, yet the results had been undeclared.

He further warned that the ABVP would protest on the Convocation day against the Tumkur University’s delay in the results, ineffective management and various other drawbacks and make the Governor realise about all these issues.

Also it would urge the government to release the amount earmarked for the development of the University, he added.

GP membership cancelled
Tunkur, DHNS: The memebershi of Belagumba Gram Panchayat President Dr P M Gangadhar has been cancelled owing to his repeated absence for the meetings. State Election Commission’s Commissioner M R Hegde has cancelled the membership as he remained absent for three meetings.

The cancellation comes after the Commission held an enquiry into the case, when Guramma from Kundur had questioned the matter.

Preparations done for exam
Kortagere, DHNS: Preparations have been done for the SSLC examination which will be held from March 31, said BEO Bandiveerappa.

 Speaking to Deccan Herald, he said that there are a total of 13 centres and a total of 2,541 atudents will appear for the exam, out of which 1,289 are boys and 1,252 are girls, the BEO added.
