A large number of people had gathered at the APMC market where the domestic gas was being distributed by the distributors. Consumers made some profit as they paid Rs 300 against Rs 320 paid earlier to their distributors. The distributors said that they were able to cut the transportation charges as a result of which they could offer the gas cylinders at low rates.
“The consumers who require domestic gas could avail the facility by showing their consumer number” said distributors. The domestic gas was directly distributed to the consumers.
But there was a flip side to this as not all the consumers got access to the cylinders. The distributors distributed only 300 cylinders on Monday evening leaving many more craving for it. The rumours of the gas distribution spread like a wild fire bring with it large of the people who jostled to take the cylinders.
The consumers alleged that Food and Supplies Department had not given any prior information to the people about the place and time of distribution as result of which there was lot of confusion.
The Department has said that it was an alternative arrangement following the complaints against the distributor in Chikkaballapur.
