‘Anveeksha 2008,’ a national-level Technical Paper Presentation Competition organised by Elixir, the association of MCA students of AICS, St Aloysius College was inaugurated by NITK Director Dr Sandeep Sanchet on Tuesday.
“There are a lot of opportunities for research in communication and networks and this is the field which is going to see enormous challenges,” said Dr Sancheti in his inaugural address. He highlighted how technology has developed in the recent past and networking of computers has brought in a sea of change. He opined that a lot of developments are yet to take place and that young people have a lot of opportunities to come up in life.
AICS and AIBA Director Fr Denzil Lobo in his address said that events like Anveeksha spawn ideas which are very essential for the growth of new technology. Giving examples from yester years, he brought home to the participants the need of deep learning, and stressed the need of reading books, magazines and journals and gathering knowledge, which in the course of one’s career will enable them to come out with innovative, new and bright ideas which would give rise to new technologies. Aloysian Institutions Rector Fr Francis Serrao in his presidential remarks challenged the young students of IT to do something more in life than amass wealth. He asked them to show real concern towards the poor and try to educate at least some children as they prosper in life.
As many as 20 teams are taking part in presentations during the two days of the programme. AICS Dean Santhosh Rebello, Anveeksha faculty coordinator Rakesh and others were present.
