For the first time, the Yashaswini Arogya Yojane has been implemented for the benefit of farmers and poor sections of the society, wherein the government will provide free treatment for 1,600 different diseases, said Co-operative Association Assistant Manager Krishnamurthy.
Speaking at the registration camp of Yashaswini Arogya Yojna organised at Hariharapura Vyavasayi Seva Sahakara Sangha in Koppa taluk on Saturday, he said the loans availed for treatment and surgery is part of the loans that farmers fail to repay and resort to suicides.
In order to benefit the landless labourers, the scheme started through the co-operative associations has been extended to self-help groups and stree shakthi groups. Free treatment will be provided for even snake bites, dog bites, injuries due to agricultural implements and such other accidents, he added.
Hariharapura Vyavasayi Seva Sahakara Sangha president S S Suresh presided. Asagodu Co-operative Association president Arvind, Bikkali Co-operative Association president Prabhakar, DCC Bank inspectors Raveesh and Nagraj participated.
