State-owned telecom operator BSNL on Tuesday announced online sale of landline pre-paid cards.
Initially, to promote the scheme BSNL made available 500 IT cards and 500 CallNow cards of Rs 100 talktime at a cost of Rs 10 each plus taxes on its web site with effect from Monday. It will be followed by making available on the web site additional 500 IT cards and 500 CallNow cards of Rs 100 talktime at a cost of Rs 10 plus taxes each on March 23 to mark the festival of Holi.
A similar number of cards of both types would be made available on the tenth of every month from April to October.
“The customer will have to pay just Rs 10 plus taxes to get the cards with talktime worth Rs 100 during the promotional period, after which cards of various denominations will be available online under normal rates,” BSNL Joint DDG (value added services) Neeraj Kumar told Deccan Herald. A link has been made available on the BSNL portal and initially the online sale is proposed only through Internet Banking, while the option of debit and credit cards would be introduced at a later stage.
A customer intending to buy calling cards online would have to register on the web site before being allowed to purchase a card.
The online purchase can be made using bank accounts in ABN AMRO, AXIS, Bank of Baroda,Bank of India, Centurian Bank Of Punjab, IDBI, Indus Ind Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, State Bank of Patiala, State Bank of Travancore and UBI.
