In a letter written to the CEO, copy of which was released to press, Patil has observed that though the CEO agreed to the issues raised by him, the lapses have not been rectified in the final voters lists published on March 10. The CEO owes an explanation to the public on the 11 points I have raised in the letter, he asserted.
Taking strong exception to the definition given for absent voter, Patil has wondered how persons who go on seasonal work be treated as absent voters.
No meetings or consultations have been held with political parties to achieve greater transparency before publishing the voters list, he has stated in the letter.
Meanwhile the office of the chief electoral officer says that hardly a handful of objections have been filed regarding the anomalies. Every individual, who wants to delete or include his name or point out anomalies, can file Forum 6, 7 or 8.
The forms can be submitted till the last date of filing nomination papers for the elections. So the question of OCEO not attending to objections don’t arise, official sources said.
