Karnataka Nataka Academy has announced the list of personalities selected for awards for 2007. Writer K S Bhagawan has been chosen for the honourary award which carries Rs 10,000 in cash.
Kumareshwara Krupaposhitha Panchakshari Gavayi Natya Sangha (Gadag) has been selected for the K Hirannaiah award. Besides, 15 theatre personalities have been selected for annual awards. Both the K Hirannaiah award and the annual award carry Rs 5,000. These will be presented at a function in Bangalore on March 27. Academy President Srinivas G Kappanna, after releasing the list of award winners to media, said his term would be over on March 22. Stating that he had no ambition to continue for the second term he said, “I demand that the state government should appoint new people to academies.”

CGK Yuvaranga Puraskara: Personalities actively involved in amateur theatre are selected for the CGK Yuvaranga Puraskara. The award carries Rs 3,000 in cash. Award winners: Sujatha Jangamashetti (Bidar), K H Kumar (Bangalore), Umesh Tenkanahalli (Hassan) and Sripad Bhat (Haveri).
