Expo on rural products
The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department is organising a national exhibition on rural products and sales “Cauvery SARAS” from March 20 to April 2 at National College grounds, Basavanagudi, in Bangalore.
RDPR Principal Secretary K Jairaj said the exhibition will showcase products like handicrafts, handloom products, garments, terracota, earthen pots, herbal medicine and assortment of others made by artisans under the Centre-sponsored Swarna Jayanthi Grama Swarojgar Yojana.

He said IIM-Bangalore is preparing the project report for the proposed rural business hubs at Channapattana and Bidar.

AIR staff gets award
Sumangala S Mummigatti, who is Transmission Executive in All India Radio, Bangalore, has been presented the National Award by the Union Department of Science and Technology in recognition of her “outstanding efforts in science and technology communication in electronic medium for 2007”.

The award was presented by Dr T Ramasami, Secretary to Dept of Science and Technology, GoI. She has devised and produced over 1000 radio programmes on science and technology, scientific temperament, scientific study of events. She has also produced the prestigious flagship science programme of AIR-Radioscope. Her radio serial on “Biodiversity” was adjudged as the most succesfful programme by a research conducted by the International Institute of Environment adn Development, London, in 2005.

NCC enrolment on April 12
The No 2 Karnataka Air Squadron (Technical)  National Cadet Corps will conduct enrolment for Senior Division boys and girls on April 12. Applicants who are students of 1st, 2nd PUC or 1st, 2nd year engineering students or 1st, 2nd year BA,BSc,BCom students of any recognised institution in Bangalore can collect the enrolment form between March 24 to April 4 and report  for enrolment on April 12 at 10.00 am along with their Institute Identity Card and Matric Certificate as age proof at No 2 Karnataka Air Squadron (Tech), NCC, UVCE Campus, 17 B, Post Office Road, Near KR Circle, Bangalore-1.
