Delay hits commuters, residents
DH News Service, Bangalore:

The flyover project at Cox Town was scheduled for completion in December 2007.  But with only 65 per cent of the work completed, businessmen on Wheeler Road are badly affected. Work had slowed down due to delay in acquiring ITC land on Banaswadi main road. After repeated demands for the last two years, ITC handed over 40,000 sqft of land on March 6 this year. Land acquisition from Indian Gymkhana on Wheeler Road also added to the delay. The delay in shifting of utilities by BWSSB only added to the problem. A water pipeline was shifted only last Sunday.

Business affected
Padmanabhan, president of Sarvagna Nagar Citizens Forum, said the flyover construction had reduced the 80-ft Wheeler Road to a 20 ft service road. Business establishments on the road were suffering heavy losses.
Meghdooth (TVS motors) showroom general manager Padmaraj reported 40 per cent loss in business. “Vehicles hardly ply on Wheeler Road. There is not enough parking place. Once the business establishment loses access business falls down automatically,” he said.

One more instance of mess up by the authorities. They do not have the urge to excel nor is there any care for the discomfort they are causing to citizens. I wonder why we have to keep paying taxes of various kinds in this scenario?? Now BBMP has announced this new CVS for Prop tax. Why should the citizen pay extra for this crap work done by the govt agencies? Everywhere it is a mess. Look at the Victoria road now. What a horrible mess?? It has caused more chaos than before. Fools leading blind.
