Archbishop of Bangalore, Rev Dr Bernard Moras in his annual ‘Good Friday’ message to people on Wednesday, called upon the devotees to avoid the new seven ‘Deadly Sins,’ which he said were taking shape with serious social implications.
The Archbishop said, the new seven deadly sins : Environmental pollution, - genetic manipulation, accumulating excessive wealth, inflicting poverty, drug trafficking and its consumption, morally debatable experiments and violation of fundamental rights of human nature.
“Hedonism and Consumerism have even invaded the bosom of the church itself, deeply undermining the Christian faith from within, thereby undermining the lifestyle and daily behaviour of believers. The new deadly sins are taking their implications on society” warned Dr Moras.
With Good Friday approaching, let us remember the sacrifice made by Lord Jesus Christ and work towards serving the poor and the down trodden. We shall also, during the holy communion, pray for smooth conduct of elections in the State, he said.
