From ‘Rasik balma...’ ‘Pukarata chala hoon mein’ filmed on Biswajeet, ‘Dil cheez kya hai aap meri jaan lijiye...’ an all-time Rekha hit, ‘Madhuban mein Radhika nache re...’ ‘Raton Ko Chori Chori’, ‘Jaane jaan dhoondta phir raha...’ to ‘Mere sapnon ki rani kab aayegi tu ...’ picturised on Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore, the audience were treated to the best of Hindi vintage songs.
Karnataka’s nightingales Pallavi Arun and Archana Udupa stole the show with their rendition of ‘Saawari’.
The surprise element came in the form of noted flautist Butto Patnayak. He turned singer that evening and won the hearts of the audience with his ‘Chura liya hai tumne jo dil ko...’.
Arun kumar, who was on the drums was also a big hit. ‘Aaja a-a-aaja, a-a-a-aaja a-a-aaja’, for which he lent support, left the audience asking for more.
Ravi Kulkarni’s ‘ye sham mastaani...’ was also well received.
Orchestra by Shabbir Ahmed, Venu Gopal Raju and team was commendable.
From devotional numbers to romantic and classical ones, the ‘mastaani sham’ had something for everyone and was no less than a journey into the past.
The concert was held in aid of Shree Maruthi Charitable Trust, that runs an orphanage.
