Informing both the Houses of Parliament of the Pakistan government’s decision to defer the scheduled execution of Sarabjeet until April 30, Mukherjee said, “We have achieved partial success and we will continue to carry on our efforts to save the life of Sarabjit Singh.”
Mukherjee said the Government was informed about the deferment of the execution until April 30 through the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
The Indian side has also said the execution could negatively impinge on the positive atmosphere prevailing in bilateral ties as the execution could be seen as a retaliatory action by Pakistan over the custodial death of a Pakistani national, Khalid Mehamood in India, that had taken place recently.
