The killing of North Indian labourers in Manipur triggered a noisy protest in the Lok Sabha (LS) with MPs from Bihar demanding effective action from the Union Government.
RJD members joined by other MPs from Bihar wanted to draw the attention of the government to the plight of North Indian migrants who were “facing unfair treatment” in many parts of the country.
Union Minister for Parliamentary affairs Priyaranjandas Munsi sought to assure the agitated members that the entire house was one in condemning the incident in Manipur.
Meanwhile, Union Home Ministry is in touch with the Chief Secretary, DGP and Home Secretary of Manipur in the wake of killing of North Indian labourers in the state. The state government has been urged to take “firm measures” to nab the culprits and also make arrangements to provide security to vulnerable people.
