The reigning deity is Sri Yoginareyana. Born as Narayanappa in 1726, he took to religion at a very young age. But he was actually a grain trader to begin with. When he was on his way to the market, he caught in the rain and took refuge in th forest.
The legend goes that the seers in the forest chanted the Ashtakshari mantra after which he took to meditation and then became a saint. He related to the problems of his devotees and lived a fruitful life for 110 years before he passed away in 1836.
