'Water conservation is everyone's duty'
DH News Service, Kushalnagar:
"Water conservation is everyones duty and accordingly the ground water must be conserved so that the next generation witnesses a better future," said Taluk Panchayat President Geetha Basappa.

Addressing an awareness programme on ‘Ground water management’ held at Kushalnagar on Thursday, she said that every land owner in the district must spare a serious thought about having a rainwater harvesting set up in their land.

Zilla Panchayat Social Justice standing committee President S N Raja Rao said that though the State government and central government have been spending crores of rupees on water conservation and other projects for water supplies, the scarcity of drinking water is still a perpetual problem.

He said that in such a situation rain water harvesting becomes inevitable.

Zilla Panchayat  Member V P Shashidhar said that due to lack of knowledge and ignorance, the ground water level has been depleting day by day.

Kushalnagar Town Panchayat President Parvathi Harihar presided over the programme. Taluk Panchayat Vice-President Meherunissa, GP President Mallikarjuna and others were present.
