Tibetans stage protest
DH News Service, Kushalnagar:

A protest was staged by the Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society at Bailukuppe Camp for Tibetan Refugees on Wednesday to condemn the attack on Buddhist monks at Lhasa in China occupied Tibet.

Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society President P K Devaiah addressing the Buddhist monks who participated in large numbers in the protest said, human rights are being violated with oppressive rule in Tibet.

The UN Security Council must immediately conduct a probe into the violence resorted to by army of China. Peace must be established in Lhasa. The Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society has extended support to the peaceful protest being undertaken by Buddhist monks in order to secure freedom for Tibet. India opposes the struggle in Tibet, he said and sought the support of all the nations to arrive at a peaceful end to the Tibetan imbroglio. All the nations must boycott the forthcoming Olympics to be held at Beijing till the Tibetan problem is solved. He also pressurised the Central government to refrain from sending athletes to the Beijing Olympics. Indo-Tibetan Friendship Society vice-president N G Rajendra and B V Javaregowda spoke.

Friendship Society leaders Fengsang Tsevang, Tashya, Lopsang, C C Sadashivappa, A A Changappa, J P Urs, S M Ashraf, Prashanth Mayya, Kumari Devaiah, Vijaykumar, Zakriya Ashraf and Dorji participated.

The Friendship Society members offered a silent prayer for those killed in the Lhasa violence and later took out a candle light procession from the Bailukuppe Camp for Tibetan Refugees. Silence was also observed for world peace on the occasion.
