In response to the call given by Federation of University and College Teachers Associations in Karnataka (FUCTAK), the Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT) will be holding a peaceful dharna in front of the Office of the Regional Director of Collegiate Education at University College Campus in Mangalore on March 24 from 11 am to 4 pm.

According to a press release from FUCTAK, the protest is held to demonstrate their solidarity with the colleges having less than B grade in accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and for whom salary grants have been stopped by the Government of Karnataka since November 2007. As of now 16 colleges in Karnataka are without salary grants, the release added.
